ATS Network Management has announced the release of AVG Plus Firewall, combining the protection of AVG Anti-Virus with an integrated firewall.

"One of the biggest problems we face in Africa is the issue relating to scalability across hardware and software platform as well as communication lines," says Glenn Lazarus, director of ATS Network Management. "Many of our African users choose AVG because it does not use large file structures for updating and no matter where they are located the updates can be downloaded with dialup connections."

The total size of the AVG antivirus and firewall executable is 18 MB making it accessible from any where and on any kind of data connection.

Some of the more powerful functionality in the AVG is push functionality for the network administrator to send out the AVG Desktop engine to any workstation on their network configured with the user functionality he has specified. The admin module provides administrators with realtime data on the AV status of all AVG users on the network including update, virus definition, last scan, virus found and much more.

AVG comes in many different versions depending on the type of user, network, server, e-mail server as well as support for Linux.
