BitDefender is in the process of a staggered release schedule for its ninth generation of desktop products. BitDefender 9 Standard and BitDefender 9 Professional have been released, with BitDefender Internet Security due momentarily.

BitDefender Professional Plus is a combined antivirus, antispam and firewall package aimed at the SOHO/retail market, while BitDefender Standard is aimed at clients who only require antivirus protection. The HiVE module, which is able to detect viruses for which there are no signatures yet, is one of the best features in the new products, says local BitDefender distributor, Grayford Holton.

Holton explained what users can expect from the next generation of BitDefender products: "We are delivering a feature-complete solution that includes an antispyware module completely developed in-house, new, highly sophisticated packet filtering, a parental control module and numerous improvements to the scanning engines.

"With the launch of antispyware and antiphishing modules in BitDefender 9, we will continue to capitalise on the ongoing discontent created by the traditional players' disregard for customers' needs," concluded Holton.
